Lings Launch Lowestoft GP to Press
September 25, 2008
After the success of the first Lowestoft GP press release, I was asked to follow it up with a write-up of the Honda Formula 4-Stroke Press Day, launching the Lowestoft Air Show and the Grand Prix itself to local press and radio. This was also the time we began seriously discussing putting together a full Sponsorship Brochure.
The Lings Racing team were the stars of the show at the official press launch of the Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival and the Honda Formula 4-Stroke Offshore Powerboat Grand Prix
After fielding questions from the assembled press, the Lings Racing team allowed anyone brave enough to suit up and take a trip in Miss Toft II, the new 225 horsepower class powerboat raced by Lings in this years series. After wining the 150 horsepower class last year – only Lings Racings first full season – the team have stepped up to the Premier 225hp class to take the new challenges posed by a more powerful boat head on.
Victoria Mayo, reporting for Radio Broadland, absolutely loved the adrenaline rush of charging up and down the Lowestoft coastline, bouncing off waves that at times were four and five metres high. While the conditions at sea weren’t exactly smooth, this just meant more fun for driver David Cowley, who gave Victoria the full Lings Powerboat Racing experience – high speeds, huge jumps and lots of adrenaline!
“I absolutely loved it. It was brilliant!” Victoria said, once back on dry land. It was just a taste of the physicality of racing. The demands of a race situation proper can’t be understated – it requires both driver and navigator to be constantly alert, aware of changes in the water and the position of competitors in order to get through each race successfully and safely.
You can experience the thrill of Offshore Powerboat racing for yourself as part of Lings Racings Platinum Sponsorship package. As well as a large branding on the boat itself as well as the Lings Racing team truck, full VIP Hospitality for up to 10 people at all events (including food and drinks), you can now have the opportunity to take a ride in the powerboat itself. Experience the physical challenge inherent in racing the powerboat, as you leap the waves at speeds of up to 65 miles per hour.
