CB1000R Receives Rave Reviews

September 25, 2008

Again, a further part of the CB1000R launch articles.  This was post-release, and was a summary of press reviews of the new machine.

The brand new CB1000R, now available for just £7099.00 on the road at Lings Honda, has been given glittering write-ups by the motorcycle press.  Combing stunning, animalistic aesthetics with awesome power, the CB1000R is the motorcycling event of the year.  Just one look at the striking lines and awe-inspiring naked styling is enough to grab you – but when you hear the engine roar and feel the smooth, precise handling, you’ll be addicted.

The CB1000R’s utterly original styling blew MARTIN FITZ-GIBBONS, writing in Bike Magazine, away: “The best looking Honda in a long time. The lines are focused and the razor-sharp tail unit sits high, leaving a new single sided swing-arm free to proudly show off the ninja death-star wheel.”
Motorcycle News’ MARC POTTER (April) agreed: “It’s all about being purposeful, minimal, and saying to everyone watching that you’re a no compromise kind of guy who likes to ride fast and look good.”

Once on the CB1000R, all the experts agreed it was a mind-blowing ride: “As an engine it’s one of the finest in any production bike and hits way harder than you’d expect.” Said the Motorcycle News, with TONY HOARE of Ride Magazine praising the retuned Fireblade engine. “The retuning work has made it easier to find its power, with a smooth throttle response dishing the stuff out from low revs.  It’s mighty quick even from 4000rpm and at 7000rpm it feels incredibly powerful.” He wrote in his review.

NIALL MACKENZIE, reviewing for Two Wheels Only magazine (June issue) agreed that the retuning work is the making of the CB1000R: “The motor is the usual Honda perfection we’ve come to expect…Honda have transformed the heart of the 2007 Fireblade into a brilliant street-fighter motor.” And Bike praised the motorcycle’s incredible midrange  “It’s fast.  Not in an all top-end, power-band, scary way, but just a huge, walloping midrange from 4000rpm that’s a real surprise.  The throttle response isn’t too sharp or too slack, the fuelling perfect.”

The experts are united in praise of everything about the CB1000R’s looks and power, but the CB1000R has more about it – the ride is powerful, smooth and safe:  “The brakes have no grabby sharpness and no wooden numbness, leaving a strong, direct link between what you ask for at the lever and what happens at the wheel.” Said Bike, adding “The steering has all the simplicity and neutrality you’d hope for too, turning with ease, precision and fuss-free stability.”

Ride felt the handling was superb “The suspension was also a blessing on the [wet] conditions as it always felt as the bike was connected well to the road.” With Motorcycle News saying “The CB1000R comes into its own as the road sweeps into fast duel-carriageway corners and you can feel how agile it is when cutting through traffic.  It steers quickly yet is stable at motorway speeds.”

It’s no surprise the CB1000R is being so lavishly praised.  Outstanding midrange performance, smooth, confidence-boosting handling and awesome, aggressive naked styling make it a motorcycle to amaze on every front.  Call into or telephone any Lings Honda branch for more information on this incredible machine.
